Our Mission
Welcome to Upstream Aquatics, Inc. Founded with a passion for swimming; We value water safety, and the joy this sport can bring to us all, as a life-long sport.
Our mission is to be the catalyst to BUILD a community aquatic center on the Mid-Lower Cape.
This place we call home, with its endless coastal landscapes, offers the perfect backdrop. We are dedicated to fostering a sense of togetherness and aquatic camaraderie on the Cape.
As a non- profit, we are committed to our vision: providing every person the opportunity to learn to swim. We believe in the transformative power of swimming. Not only to enhance physical fitness, but infinite therapeutic benefits.
Our History
Upstream Aquatics was founded in 2023. We began as an advocacy group "First Light Herring," a nod to the indigenous people who lived on this piece of land long before us. The journey of the herring represented what we knew we were up for (to build a pool): not an easy one.
However, we knew that together, we would be able to swim, upstream. And so, "First Light Herring" flowed into "Upstream Aquatics." Now in 2024 we are slowly realizing we might have already outgrown the name "Upstream Aquatics." In fact, the mission hasn't been upstream at all, there are hundreds of people that have joined this project!
Our dream on the mid-lower Cape symbolizes our commitment to health & growth in this beloved peninsula surrounded by the ocean.
Who We Are
We are connecting individuals who share a common love for water. Through our shared passion, we aim to create a space (a pool) where families, friends, and neighbors can come together. To enjoy the benefits of swimming while embodying year-round community spirit on the Cape.
We are mothers, fathers, business owners, restauranteurs, boat- builders, nutritionists, retirees, teachers, lawyers, certified public accountants, doctors, musicians (and the list goes on). We are Cape residents, summer people, snowbirds. We are swimmers. We have come together to rally- and are giddy to share, we're making waves!
Our Cape community has the opportunity to be vibrant in water from infancy to elderly. Join our flow, and dive into a project where the love for swimming unites us, creating memories and connections that will last for generations to come.
