Our Vision

Upstream Aquatics, a 501c3 non-profit organization, envisions the build of a new, state of the art, clean and safe aquatic center where all residents of Cape Cod can connect, learn and maintain healthy living skills through exercise and to provide educational and prevention learning opportunities for all ages, despite financial circumstances. The center’s offerings will:

  • Offer learn to swim programs to reduce risk of accidental drownings
  • Partner with health organizations and institutions and elder care service agencies to promote wellness through aquatic activity and therapies
  • Create opportunities for local schools, recreational clubs and adult swim teams to engage in practice, competitions and recreation in a year-round facility

To achieve the build of a new center it will take the commitment, cooperation and enthusiasm of our entire community, municipal government officials, local and state funders, individual donors and a steadfast dedication to the vision that we can do this together!

To start we have ambitious funding goals that include a need for…

  • Funds for acquisition of 2-4 acres of land for the center’s home in the Mid-Lower Cape
  • Funds for a state-of-the-art build of a 25-meter, 8-lane, glass enclosed pool with adjacent locker rooms for families, children and adults and a 30×30 heated therapy pool to support rehabilitation and wellness

Why Now?

Cape Cod’s mid-to-lower region is underserved by aquatic facilities, and this project would fill a critical gap for five townships (Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, and Chatham).

The nearest aquatics center for use by all in the community is far commute for most mid-to-low Cape residents and has limited access to swim times, lanes and learning and opportunities to participate on teams due to a with a required membership to an external, private and expensive children’s swim club that many families simply can’t afford.

With nearly 500 families already expressing their interest, the need is clear, and projections show that once built, a membership base of just 600 members would sustain operational costs, ensuring long-term success. And, Upstream Aquatics will ensure that all may participate in the benefits of aquatic sport regardless of income with reduced and sliding fees and team scholarship funding
